This project involved the interior renovation of a generous apartment on St Kilda Road for an empty-nester couple, their dog Poppy, and, their collections of contemporary art and books. Running the full length of the building, the apartment provides expansive views across Melbourne from both sides – the master bedroom overlooks Fawkner Park whilst the living spaces look out to Albert Park Lake and beyond to Port Phillip Bay. The key focus of the design response was creating an interior that both embraced the fabulous views out from the apartment whilst also providing a calm, coherent and embracing space within. With a palette of pale European oak flooring and joinery and warm greys our design transformed an otherwise generic and soulless interior into a contemporary and intimate space.
