CREMORNE COUPLE year: 2013 stage: design development
This in-fill development of two townhouses responds to the urban grain of the surrounding Cremorne streetscape which consists predominantly of narrow Victorian terraces built in small series of twos and threes. The townhouses are conceived as complimentary but non-identical twins. They are slipped against each other to mediate the different front setbacks of the buildings on either side.
Each townhouse is organised around a central courtyard which maximises natural light and ventilation and brings the outside into the heart of the dwellings, offering a rare amenity.
